As a young artist during the depression, Kruckman worked for the New York WPA. "New York's Lower East Side offered a special impetus – the pushcarts, horses and wagons, workers digging – streets seemed fascinatingly beautiful. The problem that I found challenging ...is to maintain the human element while exploring modern forms. My purpose is to give the feeling of the city, in fact a world, in constant change." – from New York City WPA Art, NYC WPA Artists Inc., 1974.

$1400.
