Bill Crawford was an award-winning American newspaper editorial cartoonist. A native of Ohio, Crawford graduated from Ohio State with a degree in Fine Arts and studied for a time in Paris. He was editorial cartoonist for the Newark News and his cartoons were distributed to more than 700 daily newspapers by the Newspaper Enterprise Association.

He served as President and Vice-President of the National Cartoonists Society and in 1973 received their Silver T-Square Award. He also was awarded "Best Editorial Cartoon" in 1956, 1957, 1958, and 1963. In addition to his cartoon work he illustrated more than 20 books.

William Fife Knowland (June 26, 1908 – February 23, 1974) was a United States politician, newspaperman, and Republican Party leader. He was a U.S. Senator from California from 1945 to 1959. He served as Senate Majority Leader in 1953-1955, as Minority Leader in 1955-1959.
