"Anais, the artist's first wife, was the model for this tour-de-force in etching. Nine states were required before the artist considered the plate finished. Especially impressive is the realistic rendering of the various textures of the elegant dress, the ostrich feathers on the hat, and the subject's long hair. An oil painting of this subject is in the collection of the St. Louis Art Museum." –Abe M. Tahir, Jr. The Graphic Art of Gerald L. Brockhurst
