impression, with fresh colors, on cream wove paper; full margins (7/8
to 6 inches), in excellent condition.
A native of Nova Scotia,
Lawson studied at Cos Cob with the impressionist painters John Twachtman
and J. Alden Weir. He was the founder of The Eight, one of the important
precursors of early 20th century modern art in New York. Lawson's work
was distinguished by its abstracted, jewel-like surfaces of texture and
color.
